Factory Construction: Why Most Delays Have Nothing to Do With Steel
Your land is ready. Your approvals are in. And your factory construction is still stuck because three different contractors can't agree on who's responsible for what. Sound familiar? This is the most common trap in industrial projects, and it has almost nothing to do with the steel or the concrete. It's about coordination.
Let's fix that.
Factory Construction Is a Sequence, Not a Single Job
People talk about factory construction like it's one activity. It isn't. Civil work, structural design, steel fabrication, erection, roofing, finishing. Each stage depends on the one before it finishing correctly, on time.
Break that chain anywhere and the whole timeline slips. A late design approval pushes fabrication back. A fabrication delay pushes erection back. Erection delays push your production start-up back, and that's the number that actually costs you money.
At Synergy PEB, we handle design, fabrication and erection as one connected process, run out of our 70,000+ sq ft facility in Nalagarh, Himachal Pradesh. One team owns the whole sequence. Nobody's waiting on someone else's email to move forward.
Why Factory Construction Projects Actually Slip
Ask any plant owner who's been through it. The delays rarely come from bad weather or bad luck. They come from gaps between vendors.
Your design consultant finishes drawings. They hand them to a fabricator. The fabricator subcontracts erection to a local crew. Three parties, three schedules, and you're the one stuck chasing updates between them.
We cut that chain down. Our design team and fabrication shop work from the same drawing set, updated the same day a change is approved. When erection starts, it's our own crew on site, not a subcontractor working from an outdated revision.
That's the real advantage in factory construction done right: fewer handoffs, fewer excuses, one point of contact who actually knows what's happening on your project.
Capacity You Can Actually Plan Around
We fabricate 1,000+ MT of structural steel a month. That number isn't there to impress you. It tells you whether your factory construction timeline is realistic or not.
A fabricator running near full capacity will slot your project in wherever it fits, which usually means whenever it's convenient for them. A fabricator with steady, planned throughput gives you a date and holds it.
For a standard industrial shed, structural fabrication typically takes 25 to 35 days, and erection adds another two to four weeks depending on site conditions and span. We share these numbers before you sign, not after you've already committed your production launch date.
Engineering That Matches Your Actual Site
A factory construction project built from a generic drawing is a factory construction project waiting to underperform.
A unit with overhead cranes needs a different column and bracing design than a plain storage shed. A site in a high wind zone needs different purlin spacing than one that isn't. Our team calculates wind load, seismic zone, and crane load under IS 875 and IS 800 before fabrication even starts.
Skip this step, and the structure might still get approved. It just won't hold up the way it should once it's actually running at full load.
What We Check Before Anything Leaves the Shop
Every fabricated member goes through dimensional and weld inspection before dispatch. We'd rather catch a problem on our shop floor than have your erection crew discover it on site, with cranes already mobilized and a schedule already slipping.
This is one line worth repeating.
Good factory construction isn't about moving fast. It's about not having to redo things.
Three Questions to Ask Before You Commit
Before you hand over a factory construction project to any vendor, ask this. Does one team manage design, fabrication, and erection, or are you coordinating between three separate companies? What's their actual monthly tonnage, not the number on their website? Can they show you a real project timeline from start to handover?
Vague answers here almost always turn into a vague delivery date later.
How We Handle It
Synergy PEB runs factory construction as one connected process, from design calculations to the final bolt on site. Same facility, same team, same accountability from day one to handover.
If you're planning a factory construction project and want a timeline you can actually build your production schedule around, talk to our team before you finalize anything. We'll walk you through the design, the fabrication tonnage, and the real delivery window upfront.
