Tank Monitoring System Singapore: SMS Alerts to Prevent Overflow
A holding tank is easy to forget until it overflows. By then the wastewater contractor is hours away and a PUB penalty is possible. A reliable tank monitoring system warns you while there is still time to act.
In this guide, we explain how an SMS alert system in Singapore works, who needs one, and what to check before you buy.
What Is a Holding Tank SMS Alert System?
A holding or ejector tank collects wastewater on sites without a direct sewer connection, or where the system needs a temporary buffer. It must be emptied by a wastewater removal contractor before it fills up.
A holding tank SMS alert system monitors the level in that tank. When the water gets high, it sends a text message to the people who need to know. The goal is to arrange collection in time, prevent overflow, and avoid fines from the Public Utilities Board (PUB).
Think of it as a water tank alert system for the tanks people usually ignore.
Why Manual Checking Is Not Enough
- Tanks fill unpredictably. Site activity, weather and workforce size all change the fill rate.
- Nobody watches at night or on weekends. An overflow does not wait for working hours.
- Site teams are busy. Manual inspections get skipped.
- The cost of a miss is high. Fines and cleanup cost far more than an alert system.
Automated water tank monitoring in Singapore replaces "someone should check" with a message that arrives on its own.
How a Smart Tank Monitoring System Works
Our smart tank monitoring system has two main parts.
1. Float switches at two levels. Two float switches (NOLTA brand, made in Germany) sense the high level and the overflow level.
2. A control panel with indicators. The panel sits in a double-door metal box. It shows high level, overflow level and power status, and has a button to mute the alarm buzzer.
When the water reaches the high level, an SMS goes out. If it keeps rising to the overflow level, a second and more urgent SMS follows.
Who Receives the SMS Alerts?
- High level: up to 5 local Singapore mobile numbers
- Overflow level: the same 5 numbers plus 1 PUB officer's number
Your site manager, safety officer, project engineer and facilities team can all be notified. If the tank reaches overflow, PUB is informed too.
Easy to Configure and Move Between Sites
You can update these details yourself by sending an SMS in a specific format:
- Tank capacity
- Site address
- Tank number
- Project reference number
Main contractors can move the system from one project to the next. The only ongoing charge is a nominal yearly SIM card renewal fee.
Who Needs a Holding Tank Monitoring System?
- Main contractors with temporary holding tanks on construction sites
- Occupiers with septic or ejector tanks who must arrange timely wastewater collection
- Project teams that need to show they are monitoring tank levels
If your site also uses an ejector pump system, a level alert adds an extra layer of protection.
