A dispensary menu is a merchandising surface. It is designed to let someone scan forty products in ninety seconds, which means it shows the fields that sort well and hides the ones that do not.

The fields that make the cut

Almost every menu shows brand, product name, format, price, potency percentage and a strain-type tag. Those six sort cleanly into columns and filters, which is why they survive.

Notice what that list is missing: extraction method, packaging date, batch identifier and terpene content. None of those filter neatly, so they are pushed to a product page if they appear at all.

Packaging date is the biggest omission

Cannabis oil degrades continuously, so a tested figure is only meaningful alongside a date. A menu showing 88 percent with no date is showing a measurement of unknown age.

This matters most on terpene-forward products, where flavour fades first. It matters least on distillate, which had less to lose. Ask for the date on anything sold on the strength of its flavour.

Extraction is the field that decides taste

Two products at the same price and the same percentage can be entirely different: one stripped to near-pure cannabinoid, the other pulled from fresh-frozen flower. The menu frequently shows neither.

Where the producer publishes it, use it. Where they do not, the product page usually does — and a brand that hides it on both is telling you something. Checking a society c strain listing or a high supply weed page for that field takes seconds and changes the comparison entirely.

Review counts on a menu are not independent

Store-hosted reviews are moderated by the store, which has an obvious interest in the outcome. They are useful for spotting physical faults and close to useless as a quality verdict.

Independent threads carry more. Searching mitten extracts reviews, mfused reviews or dompen reviews off-menu surfaces the complaints a store would not host, and the photographs that come with them.

Stock status is often stale

Menu inventory syncs on a schedule rather than live in many systems, so a listing showing available may have sold out an hour ago. This is why in-store staff sometimes contradict the website.

It also cuts the other way: products not shown online are sometimes behind the counter. If a tre house weed product or a strane disposable is not listed, it is worth asking rather than assuming.

What to ask for instead

Extraction method, packaging date and batch number. Those three turn a menu listing into something you can actually evaluate, and every licensed operator has all three on file.
